Looking to build strength and mass? Anabolic Warfare claims their Project Bulk supplement will help you reach those goals.

Project bulk is a mass-building formula made from natural botanicals. It claims to help with:

  • Muscle protein synthesis
  • Boosting recovery times
  • Creating larger and denser muscles
  • Increasing strength and performance in the gym

All these benefits sound great. It made me want to try the supplement myself. But does Anabolic Warfare Project Bulk work?

The effects of Anabolic Warfare Project Bulk will likely be minimal at best. Many of the ingredients in it don’t have enough research on them to prove their effectiveness. We don’t even know the proper dosage for many of them to yield good results. Your money is likely better spent elsewhere.

I’m being clear that I don’t recommend this supplement from my experience. But don’t just take my word for it. I’ll tell you about my full experience taking it and what I like and don’t like about this product. Read on to get all the information.

Key Takeaways

  • Many of the ingredients in Project Bulk lack scientific evidence.
  • It is a more promising formula than other “anabolic boosting” supplements on the market.
  • Your money is likely better spent on more research-backed supplements.

Is Anabolic Warfare Project Bulk Effective?

When I picked up this supplement, I hoped to see a noticeable difference in my efforts to gain mass. I took this supplement for 30 days to be able to give a well-rounded opinion on its effects.

Unfortunately, I haven’t noticed much difference since I began taking it. I maybe feel a bit more energized. But that could also be due to the fact I’ve been improving my workout regimen lately. I’ve also been incorporating other healthy habits to boost my efforts to build more muscle.

I didn’t expect to notice much since the ingredients don’t have a ton of scientific evidence. But to give an effective review, I can’t say it doesn’t work if I don’t even try it. I’m telling you right now it didn’t do much, so you don’t have to try it.

Ingredient Profile

Now, I don’t want you to just take my word for it that this supplement probably won’t do much. So I’ll give a quick overview of the ingredients and their effectiveness. In this formula, you get:

  • 500 mg of Eucommia Ulmoides Bark Extract 100:1
  • 500 mg of Smilax (Smilax Sieboldi) Root and Rhizome Extract 10:1
  • 500 mg of Ajuga Turkestanica (std to 10% Turkesterones)
  • 250 mg of Epicatechin 40%
  • 100 mg of Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)
  • 100 mg of Maral (Rhaponticum Carthamoides) Root Extract 100mg
  • 10 mg of Boron (as Boron Citrate)
  • 5 mg of BioPerine® Black Pepper

If you’re looking at this list, don’t worry if you haven’t heard of many of these ingredients. Most of these compounds are pretty new to the supplement industry.

I give props to Anabolic Warfare for trying to develop a new cutting-edge formula. You won’t see many supplements with these ingredients out there. Although, many of them don’t have nearly enough research on them. We don’t even know the most effective dosage yet for many of these compounds.

How I Rate These Ingredients

I’ll avoid going into detail with too many of these ingredients. But I’ll link some relevant studies as we go in case you want to dive deeper into it yourself. Here’s a quick overview of how I would rank each on a scale of 1 to 5. These ratings are based on studies done on their effectiveness.

IngredientRating 1 to 5
Eucommia Ulmoides Bark Extract2.5
Smilax Root and Rhizome Extract1
Ajuga Turkestanica2
Epicatechin3
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)1
Maral Root Extract2.5
Boron1
BioPerine®4

Overall, I don’t really like most of these ingredients. BioPerine® is effective. Studies on it have shown it can increase the absorption and bioavailability of supplements and nutrients from food sources. Other than that, most of the other ones either need more research or have proven to have no significant benefits.

Epicatechin is the other most promising one. It’s the only other one that has human studies done on it. One study found that it helped increase grip strength by 7% in 7 days. That said, more studies are needed to show consistent results.

Others in this formula show some promise but have only been tested on rats or mice. We need human studies to confirm their effectiveness. Those ingredients are:

  • Eucommia ulmoides
  • Smilax
  • Ajuga turkestanica
  • Maral root

I ranked smilax root as a 1 out of 5 for this formula because studies have shown it’s effective for weight and fat loss. So it being in a muscle-building formula where people are likely trying to gain weight would be counterproductive.

Lastly, both boron and DHEA have studies that show they make no significant difference in muscle growth.

How Project Bulk Stacks Up to Other Options

Honestly, most “anabolic boosting” supplements aren’t very effective. That said, I think this formula is more promising than many similar ones on the market. I’ll compare Project Bulk to Nutrex Research Anabol Hardcore

Nutrex Research’s supplement also claims to help with many of the same things:

  • Increase muscle density
  • Improve recovery
  • Boost strength and performance
  • Help with protein synthesis

The main ingredients in this one are derivatives of 6-keto-diosgenin. 6-keto derivatives have very little research on them. And the only studies on them used rats. So Project Bulk does at least have more evidence behind it showing it could help.

Here’s a quick breakdown of how these two options compare.

Likelihood of Effectiveness on a Scale of 1 to 521

Overall, I would stay away from either. But if you were to go with one, Project Bulk is more promising.

Ease of Use

I found the Project Bulk supplement easy to use. It comes in pill form. All you have to do is take 3 pills per day. The container seals well and is reasonably sized for easy storage.

Are the Benefits of Project Bulk Worth the Price?

From my experience, this supplement is not worth the price. I didn’t notice much other than a potential increase in energy. On top of that, it does have a pretty hefty price tag.

The price does make sense since they are using ingredients that are newer to the market. That said, at over $2 per serving, I would have wished for better results.

I will note they do often have sales on the official website, so you might be able to get it for cheaper at times.

Side Effects of Project Bulk

I didn’t notice any negative side effects while taking it.

You should note that many of the ingredients haven’t been heavily researched. That means we don’t know exactly what side effects could occur. From what we know, the side effects are minimal. There’s a rare chance of upset stomach, cramps, or diarrhea.

You should check with a doctor before taking anything new.

Overall Opinion

To round things out, I think this supplement isn’t worth it. I had hoped for better results since some of its ingredients are promising. However, we don’t have enough research on many of them. Some could be effective but simply require more research on how to dose them properly. So as new research comes out, we may find better ways to use those compounds.

Overall Rating of Anabolic Warfare Project Bulk: ★★☆☆☆

I’m giving this supplement a 2 out of 5 stars. While I didn’t notice much from it, I will give the company props for trying to do something new and cutting-edge. That said, it’s way overpriced for what it is.

What I Would Take Instead

If you want to get the results promoted by Project Bulk, there are other supplements that can help. The two I would recommend are Gorilla Mode Pre-Workout and a well-rounded protein powder like Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard

Gorilla Mode is efficaciously dosed with ingredients that are all scientifically proven to improve performance in the gym. These are things like creatine, L-citrulline, and L-tyrosine, among many others in the formula.

A well-rounded whey protein like Gold Standard will help with recovery and muscle protein synthesis.
