Recently, I’ve been in a fat loss phase of my training regimen. As many people are doing this time of year, I wanted to drop a few pounds to get ready for the summer. To help with that, I tried Anabolic Warfare’s Phena-Lean supplement. Phena-Lean promises to burn fat and help sculpt your body. Today, I’m going to tell you my thoughts and if I felt like it helped.

Upon receiving the product, I liked the overall look of the container. The red and white color scheme stands out to me. Plus, the container seals well, so you don’t have to worry about the product going bad. My one complaint is the container is a bit thin. As you use more of the product, it gets harder to scoop the powder out. But that’s a very minor flaw.

The main question you’re probably wondering is, does Anabolic Warfare Phena-Lean work?

Anabolic Warfare Phena-Lean will help a little bit with fat loss. It contains some ingredients that are proven to work. The main ones are caffeine and alpha yohimbine. That said, this is mostly a product for highly competitive bodybuilders. The average gym goer won’t need it to burn fat effectively.

I’m going to let you know right now this product is just ok. I didn’t notice a huge difference in my ability to lose fat compared to the previous cutting phases I’ve done without taking this supplement.

In the rest of this review, I’m going to break down my full experience with this Phena-Lean. By the end, you’ll have a better idea if this fat burner is right for you. Let’s get started.

Key Takeaways

  • The main audience that will benefit from Phena-Lean is competitive bodybuilders.
  • It’s comparable to other fat burners in the industry but a little on the pricier side.
  • Some of the ingredients in it are promising but not proven to be effective.

Is Anabolic Warfare Phena-Lean Effective?

Answering whether Anabolic Warfare Phena-Lean is effective is a bit of a yes and no. In the right use case, it will be. But, as I mentioned, it isn’t needed for the average gym goer. Here’s why.

Fat burners are highly-marketed supplements. Nearly everyone feels like they could lose a few extra pounds at some point in their life. Getting an extra edge in that process feels like something that would help. However, there aren’t many supplements out there that make a huge difference.

The most well-studied compounds with fat-burning effects are caffeine and green tea extract. These are stimulants that raise your base metabolic rate.

That said, the impact on fat loss is minimal. You won’t see a difference without making significant lifestyle changes like eating less and being more active. Plus, the average person can burn fat just fine by making those simple lifestyle changes.

These supplements are really for competitive bodybuilders and athletes. When you’re preparing to step on the stage, every calorie matters. On top of that, anything that even helps a little bit will make a difference. So if you’re in a competitive setting, Phena-Lean may be for you.

My Personal Experience with Phena-Lean

I took Anabolic Warfare Phena-Lean for 30 days. During that time, I was also in a calorie deficit, aiming to lose 0.5-1 pound per week. In addition, I upped my training frequency by lifting 6 days per week and doing cardio 4 days per week. Phena-Lean is very stimulating, so I took it before my workouts.

The stimulants in it did give me some extra energy during training sessions. That’s extra important when you’re in a calorie deficit since your base energy is lower. But you can get similar, or better, effects on energy with a high-quality pre-workout.

As far as actual weight loss, I didn’t notice much difference from previous cuts I’ve done. I was able to lose my targeted 0.5-1 pound per week with dialed-in calorie consumption and training. Phena-Lean may have contributed a bit, but it’s hard to quantify for certain how much it did.

How Does Phena-Lean Compare to Other Fat Burners?

I would say Phena-Lean stands up pretty well to other fat burners in the market. For a comparison, let’s see how it stacks up to Jacked Factory’s Burn-XT, the top-selling fat burner on Amazon. Here’s a table showing how both of these supplements stack up.

Anabolic Warfare Phena-LeanJacked Factory Burn-XT
Price$49.99$34.99
Servings per container3030
Caffeine anhydrous225mg270mg
Dicaffeine malate75mgNone
Green tea extractNone450mg
Acetyl-l-carnitineNone700mg
Capsimax (cayenne pepper extract)50mg50mg
Theobroma50mgNone
Grains of paradise15mgNone
Alpha yohimbine1mgNone

Overall, these supplements are very comparable. In my opinion, Burn XT may be a bit better value. It contains a combo of both caffeine and green tea extract, which are scientifically proven effective. Plus, it’s a cheaper cost per serving.

On the other hand, Phena-Lean contains more volume in fat-burning ingredients. That said, many of them are newer compounds that aren’t proven to be effective. Things like grains of paradise and theobroma are promising but aren’t well-researched.

The one compound that stands out in Phena-Lean is alpha yohimbine. It’s a very promising compound. However, I would take green tea extract in Burn XT over alpha yohimbine because it provides a cleaner energy boost when you take it, and it has more research backing it.

Does Anabolic Warfare Phena-Lean Taste and Mix Good?

Anabolic Warfare’s Phena-Lean comes in two flavors: Orange Strawberry and Wild Berry.

I tried the Orange Strawberry flavor. I was really interested in how the combo of orange and strawberry would taste. Turns out, it was really good! I thoroughly enjoyed drinking this every day. It also mixed well, so there were no problems on that end either.

I give it a perfect 5 out of 5 for taste.

Is Anabolic Warfare Phena-Lean Worth the Price?

Phena-Lean comes in at about $1.66 per serving. That’s on the higher end for fat burners. Considering cheaper options like Jacked Factory’s Burn XT are also available with comparable effects, I would lean towards saying this one isn’t worth the cost.

Plus, as I’ve said, the average gym goer won’t benefit from this supplement as much. It ultimately comes down to if you fit the specific use case of being a highly competitive athlete or bodybuilder. For a competitive bodybuilder, it might still be worth it at this cost per serving.

Does Anabolic Warfare Phena-Lean Have Any Side Effects?

I didn’t experience negative side effects while taking Phena-Lean. That said, I have a good tolerance for stimulants. This is a very stimulating supplement, so if you’re prone to feeling jittery or anxious when you consume too much caffeine, it might affect you differently.

In addition, it has other rare side effects, of nausea, stomach pain, or cramps. Most people should be fine but consult with a doctor before taking anything new.

My Overall Opinion of Anabolic Warfare Phena-Lean

I think this supplement is just ok. For the average person looking to lose some weight, it isn’t going to do much. But it will be a decent choice for someone from the right audience. It has some good fat-loss ingredients, like caffeine and alpha yohimbine. Plus, some of the other compounds in Phena-Lean are pretty promising.

My Overall Rating of Anabolic Warfare Phena-Lean: ★★★☆☆

I’m giving Phena-Lean a 3 out of 5. As a fat burner, there are comparable products out there for cheaper. Plus, there are others on the market that are even more stacked up with ingredients than this one.

Overall, it’s not a bad choice. If you choose to take it for fat loss, it might help a bit. Especially if you’re a competitive bodybuilder, it might give you that extra edge you’re searching for.
